Lega Nord (the complete name is Northern League for the Independence of Padania), is an Italian political party born in 1991 from the union of six regional autonomist movements in northern Italy. Founder of the party is Umberto Bossi.
Lega Nord has proposed the secession of the northern regions indicated by them with the term Padania. It is considered the most Eurosceptic political movements in Italy.
The Pontida (a small village in North part of Italy) meeting is the annual meeting of the members of the Northern League and their supporters, to celebrate the Oath of Pontida who according to tradition was to be held April 7, 1167 leading to the birth of the Lombard League against Emperor Frederick I.
